It is a collective culture predicated on common but unrecognized notions of beauty.  Beauty is that which is requisite for architecture as a designed form to exist.

We make to form that which is beautiful as a reflection of the place.

 

Question one…

What is culture?

 

The studio is a cultural forum seeking a heightened awareness of things.  What are things?  Things are mental sensations that affect how we imagine potentials.

 

The basic design principle posits that the design of things (potential objects derived from thoughtful processes) come into being from an understanding or knowledge of ESSENCES.  Then what herein does ESSENCE mean?  An essence is an identified FORM.  Forms surface from properties composed or assembled into recognizable things (potential objects).  Within the studio, potentials mark the point of departure (origin) of all collective design projects.

 

The studio is a forum that encourages a sensitive exploration of cultural conditions that provide the contextual framework for thoughtful designs. SURFACE|studio seeks to foster the growth of the individual in order to facilitate collective exchange.  The said process seeks to determine the limits of the individual in order that the collective may shift predetermined notions beyond that which is ephemeral.  Knowledge is not given but assumed to be merely an awareness of things bound to unknowns. We exchange moments at the table in order that thoughts become patterns in form…

 

The studio seeks to foster a heightened awareness of ambiance.  What is the ambiance?  The ambiance is the inherent set of properties that form Essenes as an essential

quality of a designed form.

 

Urbanism, architecture & interiors are a matter of ‘one’ bound to thoughts of the thoughtful.
